Evangelical Leader Caught With His Pants Down Resigns

Dinesh D’Souza, a prominent author, filmmaker and Christian intellectual who has spent the last four years trying to convince as many folks as possible that President Obama really hates white people, found himself in a bit of a jam this week.

Until today, D’Souza served as president of King’s College, an evangelical university in Manhattan, and received a hefty $1 million salary for his work there. But no more.

What happened? Well, let’s just say D’Souza got caught in a compromising situation–maybe all the fame he earned from his Obama 2016 documentary went to his head. In short, he showed up for an evangelical conference in South Carolina (go Gamecocks!) in the company of a much younger woman who was not his wife of twenty years. They even stayed in the same hotel together. Scandal!

Our favorite part of this story has to be D’Souza’s explanation for his behavior. He claims that “nothing happened” in the hotel with the woman in question, but he calls her his “fiancé” despite the fact that he is still married to that wife of twenty years we mentioned above. Here’s his classic cop-out:

“The thing I will admit: I did not have any idea that it is seen as wrong in Christian circles to be engaged prior to being divorced even though separated. … That was a true error of judgment, but it was truly a case where I didn’t know better.”

That’s a less than traditional view of marriage, now isn’t it?

What other interesting beliefs might Mr. D’Souza hold? Here’s an excerpt from his 2007 book  The Enemy at Home: The Cultural Left and Its Responsibility for 9/11 (great title, bro):

“What disgusts [jihadis] are not free elections but the sights of hundreds of homosexuals kissing each other and taking marriage vows. The person that horrifies them the most is not John Locke but Hillary Clinton.”

Gay marriage and Hillary Clinton caused 9/11? Good to know! We guess D’Souza will just have to blame those kissing homosexuals for ruining yet another “traditional” family now, won’t he?

We have a feeling that this little incident won’t lead to any widespread book-burnings. Come to think of it, we imagine that the King’s College website will receive more hits over the next few weeks than ever before–it’s free PR! All attention is good attention, right? Right?
