GMA Lights Up

ABCTimesSq_1126.jpgGood Morning America is getting in the holiday spirit by transforming its Times Square Studios. Three windows of the street-side studio are being decked out to represent three cities — New York, Chicago and Dallas.

And beginning tomorrow Sam Champion and Marysol Castro are hitting the road as cities and towns across the country light up the holidays. The tour ends at ABC cousin, Disneyland for the "holiday lights spectacular" which ABC notes is "only on GMA." Didn't expect that one to show up on the Today show.

The press release is after the jump...

NEW "GMA" LIGHTS UP THE HOLIDAYS SERIES TO KICK-OFF TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 27

ABC News' "Good Morning America" is gearing up for the holidays! On Tuesday, November 27, the morning news program will launch a new series entitled "GMA" Lights Up The Holidays! Weather anchor, Sam Champion, will kick things off and travel to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. From there, Champion - along with weekend weather and features correspondent - Marysol Castro, will travel around the country to help cities, villages and towns light up their respective communities for the holiday season. From Leavenworth, Washington - to Riverside, California - to Branson, Missouri - "Good Morning America" will be there live. The series will wrap-up with a final stop at Disneyland in Anaheim, California for a holiday lights spectacular - only on "GMA."
This holiday season, "Good Morning America" is also transforming its Times Square Studios into a winter wonderland! Beginning Monday, December 3, visitors from around the world will have a new destination to visit when heading to the Big Apple this holiday season. Located in the heart of Times Sq, "GMA"'s ground level studio windows will be transformed to represent three cities - New York, Chicago and Dallas - with the help of the New York Botanical Gardens, Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau, legendary Marshall Fields window designer, Robert Finzel, and Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau and designer Brad Oldham. The windows will be unveiled during the week of Monday, December 3, live during "Good Morning America."
In addition to the holiday windows, the famed Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina will decorate the "GMA" set in holiday cheer - from top to bottom - and on Wednesday, December 5, the transformation will be unveiled live on the air. Cathy Barnhardt, a holiday designer from The Biltmore Estate, will also appear on the morning program and give holiday decorating tips to viewers at home.
ABC News' "Good Morning America" is anchored by Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts. Chris Cuomo is the news anchor and Sam Champion is the weather anchor. The morning news program airs live from 7:00am to 9:00am/EDT on the ABC Television Network. Jim Murphy is the senior executive producer and Tom Cibrowski is the executive producer of ABC News' "Good Morning America."
