‘Anchorman 2′ Gets Green-Light
Brace yourselves America, because “Anchorman 2″ is coming to theaters.
Actor Will Ferrell–who created and starred in the 2004 film as self-obsessed San Diego local news anchor Ron Burgundy–made the announcement just under an hour ago during a taping of the TBS program “Conan.”
An audience member in attendance tells TVNewser that Ferrell was in character as Burgundy, and said that he and Paramount had struck a deal earlier today. No word on what the plot will be, but the original film ended with Burgundy and Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) as national network co-anchors.
Update: Wow, that was fast. Conan’s web team has posted Ferrell’s appearance and the announcement. News Team… Assemble!:
Update 2: Deadline.com reports that co-stars Paul Rudd, Steve Carrell and David Koechner are on board, along with director/producer Adam McKay. No word yet on Applegate.
