Cable News Plans for South Carolina Primary

After a big week of political news, the cable networks have planned special coverage this weekend as voters head to the polls for tomorrow’s South Carolina primaries.

MSNBC begins live election coverage tomorrow at 6pmET. As with last week’s New Hampshire primary coverage, anchor Rachel Maddow will be joined by Chris Matthews, Al Sharpton, Ed Schultz and Lawrence O’Donnell. NBC chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd will anchor a Saturday edition of “The Daily Rundown” from 4-6pmET.

On Fox News, Megyn Kelly and Bret Baier will host a three-hour election special that kicks off at 6pmET Saturday. Bill Hemmer and Martha MacCallum will be live from 4-6pmET.  Earlier in the day, Neil Cavuto will anchor a live business block from 10amET to noon. (Cavuto will also handle election coverage Saturday evening on Fox Business.)

CNN’s coverage begins at 6pmET Saturday with a panel of anchors, including Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper, Erin Burnett, John King and Soledad O’Brien. “AC360″ will be live at 11pmET, followed by “Piers Morgan Tonight” live at midnight.

On Current TV, Keith Olbermann will anchor his first 2012 primary coverage (after sitting out Iowa and New Hampshire). The “Countdown” election special will air Saturday from 6:30-8pmET.
