CBS’ Barry Petersen Brings Very Personal ‘Jan’s Story’ to the Air
CBS News correspondent Barry Petersen released his book, Jan’s Story: Love Lost to the Long Goodbye of Alzheimer’s, in stores last week. It tells the story of his wife, a former television journalist herself who had been diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s five years ago, and Petersen’s struggle to cope with the disease.
Over the weekend, Petersen filed a touching, emotional report on “Sunday Morning” where he sat down with experts, caretakers, and Jan, who now refers to him in the third person.
The text version of Petersen’s segment has been the top story on CBSNews.com all morning.
Peterson also appeared earlier today on CNN, one of his wife’s former networks, to discuss the book with John Roberts on “American Morning.” Roberts recounted how his mother had recently died from Alzheimer’s in March. Video after the jump.
