CBS News: CBS Did Not Send Flowers to George Zimmerman’s Family

The case of the jailhouse phone calls keeps getting stranger.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, phone calls between George Zimmerman and his family suggest that CBS News sent them flowers in an attempt to woo them for an interview.

A CBS News spokesperson says, quite frankly: “CBS News did not send flowers to George Zimmerman’s family.”

This is the second TV news-related nugget to come out of the just-released jailhouse phone calls from Zimmerman, and the second to be refuted by the network in question. Fox News told TVNewser that a call suggesting that host Sean Hannity offered to pay Zimmerman’s legal fees was completely false.

Zimmerman himself was sent back to jail after it was revealed that he misled the court with regards to the amount of money he had secured for his defense fund. He spoke to family and friends in code to keep up with the donations.
