CBS’s Lara Logan Pregnant

Logan_7.8.jpgIt’s been quite a few weeks for Lara Logan. Having just been named CBS’s chief foreign affairs correspondent, settling in to Washington, DC after years of reporting from war zones, and putting up with tabloid stories regarding her personal life comes the news that Logan is pregnant.

The baby is due in January, Logan tells Howard Kurtz, and she is “looking forward to being a mom.”

The father is Joseph Burkett, a federal contractor based in Iraq whom Logan met late last year. Burkett is separated from his wife back in Texas. Logan has long been separated from her husband and her divorce should be final in two weeks. Kurtz reports that Logan and Burkett plan to get married eventually.

The pregnancy was unplanned. Logan says she lost one of her fallopian tubes during an ectopic pregnancy years ago and believed at her age (she is 37) it was highly unlikely that she could get pregnant. The news came at a time when she was looking to change her life. At CBS, Logan says, “they let me run around the world doing everything I want to do. It’s a dream job, but it comes at a cost.
