Part one of the ABC News special “Back to the Beginning with Christiane Amanpour” won its time period among Total Viewers (5.2 million) and A25-54 viewers (1.5/4). In fact, the two-hour special was Friday’s #1 broadcast TV show on both counts. Head to head in its final hour, the ABC News program topped “Dateline NBC” by 1.6 million viewers (5.4 million vs. 3.8 million) and by 45% in A25-54 (1.6/4 vs. 1.1/4). Amanpour — as she told mediabistroTV last week — takes viewers on the ultimate road trip traveling to the lands of the Bible to explore the fundamental roots of three religions – Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and the powerful stories that inspire billions. Part two airs this Friday at 9pmET/PT.
