Okay, we've been looking for a way to do this story all day. And Shep Smith gave us a hook. It's the story of Philadelphia anchorwoman Alycia Lane, who was arrested early Sunday morning in New York City for allegedly hitting a police officer and calling her a "dyke." As Trace Gallagher wrapped up a report on the arrest during Studio B, Shepard Smith talked about how the story was splashed on the front pages of the tabloids, including the News Corp-owned New York Post. "There is a whole spread on this, if you enjoy this kind of news this is the right city for it," Smith said.

As for Lane, her lawyer tells the NYDaily News Lane "never hit or ever said any derogatory comments to anyone." She is on vacation from her main co-anchor gig at KYW-TV. Here is how CBS3 is reporting the story.
