Diane Sawyer: ‘We Made a Mistake’

GazaABC304On last night’s “World News,” Diane Sawyer apologized for a mistake made on a story about the growing violence in Gaza.

“On Tuesday evening, we made a mistake…I misidentified these powerful images,” Sawyer said while showing images of Palestinians in Gaza following Israeli missile strikes (pictured left).

“The people in these photos are Palestinians in Gaza in the aftermath of an airstrike by Israel, not Israelis, as I mistakenly describe them.  And we want you to know we are truly sorry for the error.”

While misidentifying the scene, Sawyer had described “an Israeli family trying to salvage what they can.”
