If you were watching TV at 9 PM ET last night, you were twice as likely to be watching Piers Morgan. Morgan was live on NBC for “America’s Got Talent,” while his CNN program ran at the same time with a taped interview with Billy Ray Cyrus.

Morgan joked about it on Twitter, responding to a viewer who asked “How can @piersmorgan be live on CNN…and NBC at the same time?”:

“It’s a miracle…” he responded, tongue planted firmly in cheek.

With NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” entering the final stretch, Morgan’s reworked contract with NBC is finally coming into play.

You may recall that NBC re-worked Morgan’s deal in order to let him sign with CNN for a primetime show. That deal gives NBC priority over Morgan, so if news breaks on a night when “AGT” is live, Morgan will be on the talent show, not the news show.

On the other hand, “AGT” is one of the biggest hits of the Summer, even topping the MLB All Star Game on Fox in the ratings last night. The hope is that those “AGT” viewers may be inclined to check out Morgan’s CNN show after watching him on NBC.
