Bridge Collapse: I-Reports & U-Reports

IReport_8.2.jpgCNN has now received more than 300 I-Report submissions from the tragedy in Minneapolis, 96 have been approved for air. The bridge collapse story comes on the one year anniversary of the viewer-generated newsgathering effort. A CNN spokesperson tells TVNewser the network "got the first image on the air within 10 minutes of the news breaking."

Since its launch a year ago today, CNN has received more than 45,000 I-Report submissions. Prior to yesterday's tragedy, CNN tells us "the most notable breaking news event where I-Report played a major reporting role was the Virginia Tech massacre, when we received more than 600 submissions."

UReport_8.2.jpgFox News has seen a "significant increase in submissions" for their U-Report campaign. And an FNC insider says we "continue to receive viewer submissions throughout our coverage today."

MSNBC and msnbc.com continue to receive submissions (more than 60 at last count) for their 'first person' reporting effort. You can see them on the channel or here...
