In addition to the switch from ticker to flipper, something else is changing on Headline News — the network is now officially known as "HLN."

TVNewser obtained a note from EVP of CNN Worldwide and HLN head Ken Jautz to his staff, announcing the "new tightened network branding."

In addition to the acronym-only designation, the new tagline will be "News and Views," which Jautz writes "is an accurate and concise description of the slate of programming we offer our viewers around the clock."

Today marks the debut of our new tightened network branding: HLN. This follows in a long tradition of Turner properties evolving from their full names into their now well-known acronyms: Turner Network Television became TNT, Turner Broadcasting System became TBS, etc.

This will not result in any programming changes, but will result in a new on-air logo (below) and a new tagline: News and Views, which we feel is an accurate and concise description of the slate of programming we offer our viewers around the clock.

As you know, we have long referred to Headline News as HLN internally, and even on our website (cnn.com/hln); this change simply makes it our public moniker as well.
