Humberto Comes Ashore

FNC's Steve Doocy said this morning, "yesterday at this time, it was not even a storm and now it is a category one hurricane." This morning Humberto made landfall as a category one storm. The cable nets are relying on a little help from their Houston affiliate friends.

Here Comes Humberto

Humberto_9.12.jpgThe cable nets led their 2pmET hours with news that Tropical Storm Humberto had formed off the coast of Texas. FNC's Janice Dean: "in the next couple of days we're going to have to watch this storm...it could cause incredible amounts of damage with the amount of rainfall that could come to southeast Texas in toward southwest Louisiana"

Hurricane Felix: Cat 5 Landfall

Felix_9.4.jpgNetwork correspondents are fanning out across Central America as Hurricane Felix makes landfall in Nicaragua. CNN's Harris Whitbeck is in sunny-for-now La Ceiba, Honduras. NBC's Kerry Sanders is about 80 miles away in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

Hurricane Felix: Coverage Plans

Felix_9.03a.jpgAs of the 5pmET Monday advisory, Hurricane Felix is a Cat 4 storm. Its outer bands are just starting to lash the coast of Nicaragua. FNC tells us correspondent Phil Keating and a team are headed to the region, and will be reporting first from Belize City. NBC has a team headed to Honduras including veterans who covered Hurricane Mitch, which hit Honduras in October 1998.

Hurricane Dean: Morning Reports

As of the 8amET advisory, Hurricane Dean is a cat 3 storm. But it came ashore as a rare category 5 along the Yucatan peninsula.

The Today show's Al Roker is reporting live from Chetumal, Mexico, the city closest to the eye's landfall. CNN's Harris Whitbeck is also reporting from the town. Other correspondents, including CNN's Rob Marciano below, are to the north in tourist towns including Cancun. The resort area was spared the brunt of the storm, but the surge was evident in live shots.

Hurricane Dean: Category 5

Dean_8.20a.jpgAt the 8pmET advisory, Hurricane Dean was upgraded to category 5 strength. NBC's Kerry Sanders and CNN's Harris Whitbeck are reporting for their networks in Chetumal, Mexico, where the eye is expected to cross in the overnight hours.

Hurricane Dean: Getting Stronger

As of the 5pmET advisory, Hurricane Dean remains a cat 4 storm, but is getting stronger. The storm is expected to make landfall along the central Yucatan peninsula near the Mexico/Belize border tonight.

• CBS: Dave Price is in Cancun, Bianca Solorzano is moving south along the Yucatan coast.

• NBC: Kerry Sanders and Mike Boettcher are south of Cancun.

• ABC: Sam Champion and Terry McCarthy are in Cancun, but their locations will most likely move south after World News.
