It’s Official: HBO Orders Aaron Sorkin’s Cable News Drama to Series

HBO has given a series order to Aaron Sorkin‘s drama series set behind-the-scenes at a fictional cable news channel. HBO announced that it ordered a pilot in January, and since then a slew of big names have signed on for the show, including Jeff Daniels, Sam Waterston and Olivia Munn. Sorkin was embedded at MSNBC with Chris Matthews while researching for the series, although MSNBC nixed an appearance by Matthews in the pilot of the series.

HBO has ordered 10 episodes of the series, tentatively titled “More as This Story Develops.” The logline gives a taste of what Daniels’ character and his staff will be dealing with in the series:

“Together they set out on a patriotic and quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles and their own personal entanglements”
