Jon Stewart to Egyptian Rioters: ‘Hands off Anderson Cooper!’
On last night’s “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart defended CNN’s Anderson Cooper — who was among several TV news reporters attacked in Egypt Wednesday. Stewart showed some riot footage — but when he got to the attack on Cooper — the Comedy Central host said:
“Now you’ve gone too far. Hands off Anderson Cooper! There is not to be a silvery wisp out place on that man’s glorious head!”
Stewart then said that there is only one person who is allowed to assault Cooper: Kathy Griffin. “And even she is granted the honor but once a year.” As for Cooper, he anchored for two hours last night, indoors, crouched on the floor, in low light last night, for security reasons. HeĀ tweeted yesterday:
Thanks for tweets of concern..I’m sore and head hurts but fine. Neil and mary anne are bruised but ok too. Thanks
