Lyne Pitts Becomes EP of Weekend Today

Lyne Pitts is the new executive producer of Today Weekend Edition, Steve Capus announced today. Pitts, who replaces new VP Alex Wallace, will start on Feb. 8. She will report to Phil Griffin.

“Her wide-ranging experiences across virtually every platform in network news makes her not only a great addition to the team at ‘Weekend Today’ but also to the executive team. We are very fortunate to have her,” Capus said in a press release.

Broadcasting & Cable sums up her background: “Before joining NBC News, Pitts had a 23-year career with CBS News. She joined in 1980 as a writer for KNXT (now KCBS), the CBS-owned station in Los Angeles. Her most recent position with CBS News was as senior broadcast producer of The CBS Evening News With Dan Rather.”
