Margaret Brennan Joining CBS News

Margaret Brennan, the former Bloomberg TV anchor is joining CBS News, TVNewser has learned. Brennan will be a correspondent principally assigned to the State Department but will also serve as a general assignment reporter in Washington, DC.

Brennan spent the last three years at Bloomberg where she anchored a daily business program. She joined Bloomberg from CNBC where she’d been a correspondent since 2006.

Brennan’s move from business news to foreign affairs should not come as a surprise. As she told us in a Media Beat interview last year, Brennan expected she might one day work for the State Department. A self-described “foreign policy geek,” who minored in Arabic in college, Brennan will now be covering the department.

Brennan joins CBS News next month.
