May 2011 Ratings: HLN down double digits

The Casey Anthony trial is proving to be a boon for HLN. Still, the network is down double digits when compared to last May: down -12% in Total Viewers and down -17% in younger viewers in primetime and flat in total viewers and down -15% in younger viewers in total day viewing.

The ratings for May, 2011:

  • Primetime (Mon-Sun): 390K Total Viewers / 123K A25-54
  • Total Day (Mon-Sun): 275K Total Viewers / 105K A25-54

On the opening day of the Anthony trial, Tuesday, May 24, HLN live courtroom coverage beat FNC, CNN and MSNBC in each hour from 2-5pmET among A25-54 viewers. On Friday, May 27, Nancy Grace won the 8pm hour among A25-54 viewers. For the month, Grace is up +1% in total viewers and down -20% in younger viewers. The real weak spot on the schedule is Dr. Drew. The 9pmET show is down -43% in total viewers and -29% in younger viewers compared to the 9pmET hour last May, when The Joy Behar Show aired. Behar, now at 10pmET, is down -18% in total viewers and down -33% in younger viewers.
