New leadership team reflects growth in mobile, devices, technology and other platforms

NEW YORK, NY—Oct. 2, 2012—NBC News Digital today announced the executive editors who will lead NBCNews.com, TODAY.com and MSNBC.com, respectively. Each will be responsible for managing the editorial voice and growth strategy for the sites, including oversight of the existing apps and other digital extensions.

NBCNews.com will be overseen by Vice President & Executive Editor Gregory Gittrich. He will report to Vivian Schiller, SVP and Chief Digital Officer of NBC News. Gittrich joins NBC News from the NBC Owned Television Stations group, where he was the vice president of digital media and editor-in-chief of NBC Local Integrated Media. In that role, Gittrich was responsible for the news coverage, content strategy, product vision, and marketing across NBC’s local websites, mobile apps, and social platforms in the 10 cities where NBC owns television stations. Before joining NBC in 2008, he was assistant managing editor of the New York Daily News, directing the daily metropolitan and national news coverage and editing the Sunday news coverage.

TODAY.com will be overseen by Vice President & Executive Editor Jennifer Brown, reporting to Schiller. Brown was formerly the General Manager of TODAY.com, managing the digital operations of the site. Brown has served many roles within the TODAY.com organization, including producer, senior producer and director of strategy and development. Brown joined NBCNews.com in 2006 as the coordinating web producer for MSNBC’s primetime lineup.

MSNBC announced that Richard Wolffe will be the Vice President & Executive Editor of the cable brand’s new digital home when the site launches in 2013. Wolffe is an award-winning journalist and political analyst for MSNBC. He is a New York Times best-selling author and former journalist for the Financial Times and Newsweek. He will report to MSNBC President Phil Griffin on editorial and to Schiller on operations.

NBC News Digital also announced that Ryan Osborn, former Senior Director of Digital Media at NBC News, will become Vice President of Digital Innovation—focusing on social media and new extensions for NBC News in digital media. Andrew Locke, former Senior Director of Mobile and Device Products for NBC News Digital is promoted to Vice President of Mobile and Devices. John Keegan will take on the role of Vice President of Technology Strategy, working alongside JoAnne Kennedy, who continues in her technology role from the Seattle area. All four report to Schiller.
