What? No More MTP on iTunes?

The NYTimes' Brooks Barnes reports NBC and Apple could not come to terms on a deal to continue selling NBCU programs on iTunes. The deal had included shows from NBCU's broadcast and cable networks, including news programs Meet the Press and NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. Barnes writes NBC "is the No. 1 supplier of digital video to Apple's online store, accounting for about 40 percent of downloads." NBC notified Apple of its decision late yesterday.

"The current two-year deal extends through December, so a vast video catalog — some 1,500 hours of NBC Universal's news, sports and entertainment programming — will remain available on iTunes at least until then," Barnes writes.

>More: Since the MTP and Nightly News video and audio podcasts are free downloads, it's not known how this deal will affect those programs on iTunes, if at all.
