Piers Morgan Hires Away Barbara Walters’ Booker

Katie Nelson Thomson has left ABC News and joins CNN as senior broadcast producer of “Piers Morgan Tonight.”

Thomson spent 15 years at ABC News, working primarily with Barbara Walters. She’s produced interviews for “20/20″ and for the Barbara Walters specials, including Walters’s 1999 interview with Monica Lewinsky — watched by 70 million viewers, the highest-rated news event broadcast by a single network.

Says Jonathan Wald, EP of “Piers Morgan Tonight”: “(Katie) brings unmatched experience and leadership in the booking and producing of big-name interviews and she will be instrumental in helping lead a talented team of bookers and producers.”
