The cable news ratings are in for last night’s primetime addresses by President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner. Because of the way it was structured, the ratings for MSNBC and Fox News are divided into numerous smaller parts, encompassing Obama’s speech, Boehner’s speech, the brief lead-up to Obama’s speech and two minutes in between the speeches.
Fox News was the most-viewed of the three, drawing over 3.5 million people for Obama’s address, and more than 4 million for Boehner’s. CNN was next, averaging just over 2 million viewers for the 23-minute block. MSNBC averaged nearly 1.6 million people for Obama’s address, and slightly less for Boehner’s.
