November Ratings: MSNBC's Demo Streak at 7, 8 & 9

MSNBC's prime time lineup continues its hot streak post-election, out-rating CNN at 7, 8 and 9pmET in the key adult demo. (FNC came in first in the demo & Total Viewers).

"The Rachel Maddow Show" out-rated "Larry King Live" among A25-54 viewers (672,000 vs. 565,000) for the second month in a row. "Hardball with Chris Matthews" at 7 and "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" at 8 also beat their CNN competitors, Lou Dobbs and Campbell Brown.

Also, Olbermann beat Brown (2,107,000 vs. 1,321,000) and Maddow topped King (1,826,000 vs. 1,705,000) in Total Viewers for the month.

Morning Joe (6-9amET) had its best month ever averaging 255,000 viewers in the demo and 604,000 Total Viewers. That compares to CNN American Morning's 292,000/684,000 and Fox & Friends' 384,000/1.2M.

Countdown Continues to Dominate CNN at 8 PM


"Hardball" beats CNN's "Lou Dobbs" at 7 PM in A25-54

NEW YORK - Dec. 3, 2008 - MSNBC's primetime lineup continues its incredible hot streak post-election, with "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" and "The Rachel Maddow Show" soundly out-rating CNN in both total viewers and the key adult demographic, and "Hardball with Chris Matthews" besting CNN's "Lou Dobbs Tonight" in A25-54, according to program data from Nielsen Media Research. This is the second consecutive month that "The Rachel Maddow Show" has out-rated "Larry King Live" in A25-54.

Following are MSNBC ratings highlights for the month of November:

• "The Rachel Maddow Show" continues to be a huge ratings success, out-rating CNN's "Larry King Live" among both A25-54 (672,000 vs. 565,000) and total viewers (1,826,000 vs. 1,705,000) in November.

• "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" maintains its ratings dominance at 8 p.m. over CNN, with a huge advantage among both A25-54 (780,000 vs. 472,000) and total viewers (2,107,000 vs. 1,321,000).


• "Hardball with Chris Matthews" also out-rated CNN for the second consecutive month at 7 p.m., with a decisive 16 percent advantage among A25-54 (496,000 vs. 429,000).

• "Morning Joe" drew 274,000 A25-54 in November, the best ratings ever for the program.


• "Race for the White House/1600 Pennsylvania Ave" averaged 304,000 A25-54, up 198 percent over Nov. 07.

• In weekday primetime (M-F, 8-11 p.m.), MSNBC averaged 699,000 A25-54, up 241 percent compared to November 2004, and up 190 percent versus Nov. 2007.
