Sarah Palin on Katie Couric’s Departure: ‘I think I read that in a newspaper…’

Former Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin weighed in on Katie Couric‘s departure from the “CBS Evening News” while appearing on “On the Record” with Greta Van Susteren last night.

“I think I read that in a newspaper. One of many newspapers that I read online,” Palin quipped. “Now I hear she wants to engage in more multi-dimensional storytelling. Versus I guess the straight-on read into the TelePrompTer screen storytelling. More power to her, I wish her well with her multi-dimensional storytelling.”

Couric interviewed Palin in a now-infamous interview, which Palin characterized as a “gotcha!” interview.

Elsewhere, “Today” co-anchor Matt Lauer appeared on NBC’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,”where he briefly discussed Couric’s departure, and gave the most thorough statement yet on whether is leaving the NBC morning show:

“I love my job, I have a long term contract here, I am not going anywhere,” Lauer said, reiterating it even after being pressed by Fallon.

When Fallon brought up the rumored syndicated talk show with Couric, Lauer played it off as a joke.

“Katie is a good friend, I don’t know what she is going to do,” he said.
