Moseley spent 18 years at ABC, most recently as senior Washington producer for “Good Morning America.” She has also been ABC’s senior political editor and, earlier in her career, a producer for “This Week” during the David Brinkley era, later named EP of the show when it was “This Week with Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts.” Before ABC News, Moseley spent ten years at CBS News working in the political unit.

TO CNN-DC STAFF:
I am thrilled to announce that Virginia Moseley will join CNN as the Washington Bureau’s VP/Deputy Bureau Chief. Virginia will oversee CNN’s Washington newsgathering operation.
Virginia has had an extraordinary career in Washington network television news. She comes to us from ABC News where she was most recently Good Morning America’s Senior Washington Producer overseeing all Washington reporting and interviews for ABC’s flagship morning show. During her 18 years at ABC, Virginia also served as ABC’s Senior Political Editor during the 2006 and 2008 campaigns and spent eight years with This Week first as Senior Producer and then as Executive Producer. Before ABC News, Virginia spent ten years at CBS News working in the political unit, as an off-air reporter on Capitol Hill, as an embed in the 1992 campaign, and finally as Washington Producer for the CBS Evening News.
Virginia has had a key role in covering every major story of our time. She was part of the ABC team that won the Murrow Award for Bin Laden coverage and just last night Virginia and Robin Roberts were honored with a Front Page award for their interview with President Obama when he first declared his support for gay marriage.
Virginia’s arrival is one more piece of excellent news for the CNN Washington Bureau following the launch of our new studios and CNN’s election night victory over all of our cable news competition.
Virginia joins us officially the first week of December.

Subject: Virginia Moseley
Virginia Moseley came to me earlier this week with some news: She is joining CNN as vice president and deputy bureau chief in Washington, managing all areas of the network’s DC newsgathering operation. It’s an opportunity she feels is too good to pass up.
Virginia came to ABC News 18 years ago as a senior producer for This Week with Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts, moving into the role of executive producer where she led the show through Bill Clinton’s impeachment and the tragedy of 9/11.
Over the years, Virginia has played several major roles at ABC News – leading booking efforts for the news division, campaign coverage for the 2008 presidential election across all of ABC platforms as our senior political editor and most recently as a senior producer for GMA.
Throughout her time at ABC, Virginia’s impeccable editorial judgment guided us through countless news cycles. Her deep and strong relationships in Washington helped secure many important interviews. And most important, Virginia’s steady hand and savvy helped to build and shape our political coverage into the best in the business.
In 1997, Virginia played an indispensable part in recruiting George Stephanopoulos to ABC and she has been a critical member of his team ever since.
On a personal note, I’ve known Virginia since our days in college and have always admired her piercing intelligence, energy and competitiveness.
Virginia will be greatly missed at ABC. I know all of you join me in wishing her the best at CNN.
