White House v. Fox News: All Calm Today

All was calm at this morning’s White House press briefing between Jay Carney, the president’s spokesman and Ed Henry the new chief White House correspondent for Fox News.

After two days of verbal jabs, including Carney saying to Henry yesterday, “I know you’re creating a thing here for Fox,” things were kept on topic this morning. Carney even said to Henry, “I appreciate the question,” when the Fox News correspondent asked what Pres. Obama was willing to put on the table “in the final hours” of the debt ceiling debate.

Henry’s colleague, Greta Van Susteren wrote on GretaWire last night that the White House needs to “give it a rest.”

I am actually surprised the White House Press Secretary acted that way to Ed. In his “former life” Jay Carney was a journalist and he knows the job is to get answers. This was a cheap shot.
