Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Volunteer Public Relations Coordinator with a focus on media relations. The primary goal is to increase brand awareness by fostering positive relationships with media outlets, securing press coverage, and effectively communicating our organization's mission and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Media Outreach: Identify relevant media outlets; develop and maintain media contacts; establish relationships with journalists and editors.
• Press Releases and Story Pitches: Create compelling press releases and pitches; distribute to media contacts; follow up to secure coverage.
• Media Events and Campaigns: Plan and organize media events, press conferences, and interviews; collaborate with internal teams for consistent messaging.
• Content Creation: Develop engaging press materials; work with marketing to align PR efforts.
• Media Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor media coverage; analyze media metrics; report on PR impact.

Qualifications

• Strong passion for STEAM education and the organization's mission.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain media relationships.
• Experience in media relations or communications is a plus.
• Familiarity with media monitoring tools and PR software.
• Self-motivated, organized, able to work independently and in a team.

Time Commitment

Flexible, approximately 2 hours per week, remote work possible.
