Part-time Faculty Positions

DePaul University invites expressions of interest for a pool of qualified Part-Time Faculty to teach courses in various disciplines across all 10 colleges and schools. Individuals may submit their credentials to any posting for which they are qualified. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Screening is ongoing, depending on curricular need and funding. Qualified individuals will be contacted if they reach the finalist stage for specific courses. The pool remains active until the specified closing date; resubmission is required to stay in the pool beyond that.

Responsibilities:

DePaul's Jarvis College of Computing & Digital Media (CDM) is located in Chicago's Loop, the central business district. CDM values diversity and seeks to recruit a diverse faculty. Part-time positions are available throughout the academic year, including summer sessions. Course schedules vary each quarter; the college collaborates with selected individuals to determine quarterly schedules. Courses are not guaranteed, but ample notice is provided when available. Applicants with expertise matching scheduling needs will be contacted for interviews.

The School of Cinematic Arts (SCA) offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Film and Television, Animation, Creative Producing, Documentary, and Screenwriting, located on the Loop campus and at DePaul Cinespace Studios. More information is available at SCA Website.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum requirements include a master's degree in the discipline, or 18 semester/27 quarter hours of graduate work, or an undergraduate degree with at least five years of relevant professional experience. Exceptions may be considered with dean approval.

The candidate must have demonstrated experience teaching in a diverse learning environment.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

DePaul's Animation Program offers Illustration courses such as making comics, history of comics, concept art, storyboarding, technical rendering, observational drawing, and color theory. Facilities include a Risograph EZ590. Illustration courses are part of the Storyboarding and Character Design concentration within DePaul's Animation Program. Our full-time faculty includes cartoonists Amy Lockhart, Jacob Ciocci, and Scott Roberts. More about the program can be found at Animation Zine.

Considerations:

Exceptions to standard rates may apply for courses with special credit hours, labs, clinical/practicum components, coaching, administrative tasks, or enrollment variations.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary ranges from $4,700 to $6,000 per course, based on qualifications and experience. DePaul offers various benefits for qualified part-time employees. Details are available at Benefits Information.

Academic Calendar:

DePaul operates on a quarter system (except College of Law on a semester system). Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters are 11 weeks; Summer sessions are typically 5 weeks. The College of Law's semester runs 16 weeks with a 7-week summer session.

Salary Information:

The expected rate is between $4,700 and $6,000 per course, depending on qualifications and experience.
