NEWS ANCHOR - WCAX Job at WBNG-TV in South Burlington

Job Summary/Description:

WCAX-TV is seeking an experienced news anchor for our weekday 4:00 p.m. newscast. The ideal candidate will possess dynamic storytelling skills, polished on-air delivery, and the ability to connect with viewers. The role involves leading newsroom efforts, assisting producers with rundown stacking and scripting, and utilizing digital skills to deliver news via live stream and social media. Occasional field reporting and live anchoring from the field are also expected.

Responsibilities:

1. Present engaging and professional live newscasts daily.
2. Conduct live interviews and anchor live events from our streaming desk.
3. Deliver news stories accurately and impartially, ensuring viewer interest.
4. Use editorial judgment to select content.
5. Collaborate with team members to produce fast-paced, unique newscasts.
6. Write for web and manage content on digital platforms and social media.
7. Develop story ideas, contacts, and sources within the community.
8. Participate in community events and represent the station publicly.
9. Maintain a professional image at all times.

Qualifications:

• At least two years of experience in a commercial newsroom, including regular anchoring.
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or communications preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
• Proficiency with newsroom computer systems.
• Flexible schedule.
