Primary Duties and

Responsibilities:

Position purpose:

The Recording Studio Manager oversees the the operations schedule, maintenance, and related activities of assigned audio recording facilities and equipment for the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business.

Essential Functions: This position is responsible for coordinating academic recording studio operations, facility scheduling, and equipment distribution of all audio resources under the direction of the Curb College Director of Facilities and Equipment, including managing operational budgets, purchases, and overall maintenance of the recording studios, lab, and classroom spaces

  • Collaborate with the Academic Program Chair to coordinate academic and auxiliary scheduling in the recording studios, technical classrooms, edit bays, labs, and equipment. Work with facility managers to utilize the recording studios, spaces, and equipment as efficiently and effectively as possible.
  • Manage and develop student studio staff engineers and front desk employees at assigned studios. This includes recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, evaluation, and time card approval. Maintain applicable staff & student documentation of facility activity as appropriate.
  • Coordinate the management, distribution, documentation, and maintenance of audio equipment inventory at assigned recording facilities. This includes coordination of inventory storage, transfers, repairs, replacements, and upgrades, as well as routine and as-needed maintenance of audio equipment and musical instruments in those facilities.
  • Coordinate studio and facility maintenance involving general upkeep for assigned studios, which involves cleaning and reporting facility issues, coordinating the use of spaces, and securing studios when not in use. Coordinates spatial updates for assigned studios.

  • Must be an expert in analytical, critical thinking and with written and oral communications.


Required Education Bachelor's required Audio Engineering or applicable; Master preferred

Required Experience 1-3 required; 4-6 preferred - working in a recording studio.

The selected candidate will be required to complete a background check satisfactory to the University.
