Job Description:
The Art, Communication, Media & Music Department invites qualified applicants to teach Communication Studies in person at our Syracuse campus.
Major Responsibilities:
We seek adjunct instructors to teach introductory courses such as Introduction to Communication, Interpersonal Communication, and Public Speaking. Classes are typically scheduled during the day and will be conducted face-to-face on campus.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Master's degree (or higher) in Communication Studies or a related field (e.g., Public Relations, Broadcast Journalism, Journalism, Telecommunications, Media Communications, Marketing & Data Analytics, Social Media Studies, Rhetorical Studies) from a regionally accredited institution or foreign equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching at the community college level.
- Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish; other language skills are also considered.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
The ability to support student success is essential.
Additional Information:
- The adjunct pay rate for the 2025-2026 academic year is $1,483 per credit. Assignments depend on enrollment needs.
- Adjuncts may participate in the NYS Teacher's Retirement System.
