Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Technology

The Department of Music within the School of the Arts seeks applicants for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Technology (renewable) for the 2025-26 academic year. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and multifaceted practitioner/educator with significant professional experience in audio (recording, production, live sound, etc.), and music, with skills such as composing, songwriting, or arranging across various styles (e.g., hip-hop, jazz, EDM, pop, Western classical, and others). The candidate will contribute to the development of a new major in Music Production and Engineering. Responsibilities may include teaching beyond music technology, such as music theory, music literature, or composition. Additional duties may involve oversight of student technicians providing concert recording, live streaming, video editing, and live sound support services. Program facilities include a recently updated recording studio, a concert hall with excellent acoustics, a piano/computer lab, and several well-equipped venues, including a student nightclub with a professional sound system.

Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree in music technology, composition, or a related field by August 2025, and at least three years of full-time professional experience in an audio-related field such as recording, production, or live sound engineering. Demonstrated success or potential in teaching undergraduates is required.

Preferred qualifications include college-level teaching experience and a doctoral degree in music technology, composition, or a related field.
