Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and talented Design Manager with expertise in residential internal finishes. The successful candidate will work alongside a reputable London-based main contractor, which achieved a turnover of £175m last year and is projected to reach over £200m this year. The company is known for managing projects efficiently, delivering quality work on time and within budget, resulting in a high rate of repeat business. Currently, they are managing a £20m change of use project in Victoria, Central London.
The project involves converting an existing commercial building into attractive residential apartments, including internal strip-out, structural alterations, and internal fit-out works.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to provide effective design management services.
- Implement the project's design management strategy.
- Assess design risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Prepare project-specific designer agreements.
- Develop and manage realistic design programs and information schedules.
- Oversee on-site design activities, coordinating with site-based resources as needed.
- Review all design deliverables to ensure they align with budget constraints.
- Manage design change processes, organize, and chair regular design team meetings.
Candidate Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and technology.
- Understanding of planning techniques, procurement, and value creation.
- Good knowledge of contracts and contract documentation.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Knowledge of lifecycle costs.
- Risk management skills.
- HNC / HND in Architecture or Construction Technology.
