Overview Of The Design Studio Specialist Role
You will inspire customers to enhance their lives at home by providing product knowledge and design expertise--including room plans and mood boards--leading ultimately to the sales of West Elm product. You will guide the customer shopping experience across multiple channels including store point-of-sale transactions, online purchases, and remote purchases in the customer home. You will promote continued customer engagement and give customers a reason to stay connected with our brand by a having a strong, creative design eye, emphasis on amazing customer service, and strong presence on the showroom floor.
Responsibilities
- Drive store sales by using your design expertise to assist clients during store consultations, virtual meetings, and in-home appointments
- Perform productive consultations including the ability to accurately measure and assess the client's living space, either in store, virtually, or in home
- Create and present design plans based on client's needs, style, preferences and living space
- Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions in order to achieve and exceed established sales and productivity goals
- Demonstrate thorough product knowledge, including features and benefits, of the West Elm assortment
- Strong communication, clienteling and customer follow-up skills
- An ability to provide World Class Service in the store, virtually, and in the customer home during in-home consultations
- Ability to complete and coordinate complex large orders within a variety of sales channels
- Experience working with the elements of interior design preferred
- Proven ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- 1-2 years of customer service and retail sales experience, (specialty retail preferred, but not required)
- Full time associates must have open availability, weekends included, to meet the needs of the business.
- Must be able to be mobile on the sales floor for extended periods of time
- As a full-time employee, you must be able to work 32-40 hours per week
- Must be able to travel to customer homes for in-home consultations
- Must be able to lift and mobilize medium to large items, up to 75 lbs., while utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques
- Full time associates must have open availability, weekends included, to meet the needs of the business.
