KING 5 is on a mission to “Stand for Truth” by creating smart and engaging newscasts that focuses on accountability and storytelling. Our team is looking for a News Producerthat shares our passion for finding and defending fact, is authentic and transparent and pushes to break new ground and care deeply about our local community. You will report to the Dayside Executive Producer and collaborate with a Senior Producer, other producers, anchors, reporters and photojournalists. We are searching for someone who can balance multiple deadlines and uphold high journalistic standards to get our news on-air and to our digital platforms.
Responsibilities
- Craft, build, mold, visualize, and conceptualize the lead story, deep-dive content, and segments for the newscast.
- Use creative production techniques like graphics, editing and new forms of media to enhance stories
- Hold the powerful accountable
- Enterprise ideas, by pitching your own stories
- Calmly handle live and breaking news in the control room
- Write conversationally and cut video for broadcast
- At least 2 years of producing experience in a medium or large market
- Strong news judgement and use of analytics to determine content and teases
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends
- Strong understanding of the tenets of professional journalism
- Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, editing and content management systems are a plus
- Organizational skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines
- BA/BS college degree or related experience

Our 401(k) program offers full, part-time and temporary employees the opportunity to contribute 1% - 80% of their pay on a pre-tax basis to TEGNA’s 401(k). Contributions made up to the first 4% of pay are eligible for a 100% match from the company and are 100% vested from day one.
Regardless of participation in TEGNA medical plans, ALL employees and their eligible family members receive nine free virtual doctor’s appointments with a physician through Teladoc, and 12 free annual therapy sessions with a licensed clinician through Spring Health.
TEGNA offers a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit as well as nine paid holidays per year.
