FIRE SPRINKLER DESIGNER

Company Profile: 1st Fire Protection Services, LLC is a privately-owned fire protection company that designs, fabricates, installs, maintains, and inspects fire protection systems in commercial & industrial buildings. We have offices located in San Antonio, Austin, McAllen, Waco, Houston, Laredo, and College Station.

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing fire sprinkler systems that meet applicable codes, standards, and client requirements. You will produce detailed drawings, perform hydraulic calculations, and coordinate with project teams to ensure successful installation and compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design fire sprinkler systems for commercial and industrial projects in compliance with NFPA standards, local codes, and client specifications.
• Prepare detailed layout drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software.
• Perform hydraulic calculations to ensure system effectiveness and code compliance.
• Coordinate designs with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Review project plans, specifications, and site conditions to develop efficient and effective system layouts.
• Prepare submittal packages for client and authority review/approval.
• Support project managers and field teams during installation and construction phases, including responding to RFIs and design clarifications.
• Conduct quality control reviews of designs and ensure all work meets company and industry standards.
• Maintain organized project files and documentation.
• Stay current with changes in fire protection codes, products, and design methodologies.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelors degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field preferred.
• NICET certification in Fire Protection (Level II or higher) strongly preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in fire sprinkler system design preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA 13 and related codes/standards.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
