Padilla is looking for an experienced Media Relations Manager to join our dynamic Channels team. This role is ideal for a seasoned media professional passionate about crafting compelling stories and securing top-tier coverage across diverse industries—from B2B technology and consumer brands to agriculture and food, particularly with an eye to the business story. Responsibilities
- Strategic Media Relations: Lead the development and execution of integrated media relations strategies. This includes audience analysis, message development, media targeting, and hands-on pitching—both independently and with team support.
- Media Outreach & Placement: Leverage existing relationships and build new ones with key journalists and editors across broadcast, print, and digital platforms. Proven ability to secure coverage in top-tier outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Bloomberg, CNBC, Forbes, Fast Company, NPR, FinTech TV, NYSE Live, and Yahoo TV.
- Client Media Training & Tours: Prepare and accompany C-suite executives through high-stakes media engagements, including live TV appearances, desk-side briefings, and multi-day in-person tours in major markets such as New York, D.C., and Chicago.
- Storytelling Expertise: Create and shape newsworthy narratives that go beyond canned messaging—delivering stories that resonate authentically with journalists and audiences.
- Editorial Insight: Demonstrate a deep understanding of newsroom dynamics and editorial priorities. Anticipate journalists’ needs and align pitches with their coverage areas.
- Collaboration & Mentorship: Support media relations efforts across the agency, whether leading entire programs or offering strategic support. Mentor junior team members and help cultivate the next generation of media pros.
- Innovation & Tools: Utilize existing media tracking and engagement platforms. Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging tools that improve efficiency and impact in media relations work.
- Proactive Leadership: Act with urgency to address media opportunities and challenges. Contribute strategic counsel to internal teams and clients alike.
- Performance & Accountability: Meet billable hour targets and maintain high standards of quality and efficiency in all workstreams.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years developing and executing media relations strategies with a strong record of results.
- Demonstrated expertise in pitch development, media measurement, and media program management, especially in business and B2B environments.
- Comfortable planning and executing live broadcast interviews and media tours for senior leaders.
- Established media relationships with key business media outlets, and a drive to grow those connections.
- Excellent multitasking skills with the ability to support multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously.
- Enthusiastic team player comfortable collaborating across time zones and disciplines.
- Open to regular travel for media events and executive support as needed.
- Natural curiosity and a proactive mindset to elevate client outcomes and agency capabilities.
