Job Description:
The UI/UX Designer shall support the client project Just transitions in vulnerable places digital solutions for climate resilient informal areas and climate smart urban recovery of communities affected by crisis in their efforts to developing map-based web applications and urban data platforms for evidence-based and participatory decision making in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the New Urban Agenda, focusing on communities in Ukraine.
Scope of Work:
Collaborate with the development team to design a user-friendly geospatial platform
Develop and maintain high-fidelity prototypes for geospatial platforms functionalities, including data visualization, analysis and map-based interfaces, to ensure a seamless user experience
Collaborate with software developers, data scientists, other designers and project management team
Assess and incorporate new technologies and methodologies to enhance application performance and capabilities
Conduct user interviews and surveys to understand user needs and pain points.
Analyze user feedback to inform design decisions
Create high-fidelity prototypes using tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
Design intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for the geospatial platform.
Ensure consistency in design elements, such as color schemes, typography, and iconography
Design and implement map-based data visualization features, including heat maps and choropleth maps.
Ensure that visualizations are clear, informative, and easy to interpret
Conduct usability testing sessions to gather feedback on the prototypes.
Iterate on designs based on user feedback and testing results
Participate in regular team meetings and design reviews
Create and maintain design documentation, including style guides and design specifications.
Provide detailed annotations and guidelines for developer
Bachelor's or higher degree, in Graphic Design, Computer Science, Urban Planning, or a directly related field or its equivalent in education and/or work experience.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in UiUx design with a strong portfolio around Geospatial projects and use cases.
Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar
Strong understanding of human-centered and user-centered design principles.
Experience creating high-fidelity prototypes.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Experience with designing user-friendly, scalable and secure applications
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and an interest in finding technical and innovative solutions for urban development issues.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, contributing to an agile development process and interacting with frontend developers, data scientists, and other team members.
Experience with digital development in Ukraine is an asset
Experience with geospatial platforms or data visualization is an asset
