Organization Profile
LCMS Communications is responsible for informing, reporting, and interpreting the Synod’s purpose, programs, and positions to its members and the public, promoting understanding of the church’s mission and activities.

Position Location: Local St. Louis area

Reporting Relationships:

• Reports to the Director, Graphic Design.

Essential Job Functions:

• Design print materials and graphics for the Synod, including ministries, events, resources, publications, social media, website, and advertisements, ensuring brand consistency.
• Collaborate with writers, production teams, and leadership to develop cohesive visual concepts aligned with project goals.
• Utilize Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) to develop designs.
• Apply typography, layout, and color theory to enhance marketing materials.
• Maintain brand guidelines to ensure visual consistency.
• Develop visual concepts that are impactful and memorable.
• Adapt designs for digital, print, and multimedia platforms.
• Manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
• Stay updated on current design trends and incorporate modern styles into projects.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, fine arts, or related field with demonstrated organizational skills.
• Strong portfolio showcasing high-quality designs.

Competencies:

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong graphic design skills, including typography and color theory.
• Effective time management and ability to handle multiple projects.
• Flexibility and adaptability to feedback and changing requirements.
• Knowledge of current design trends.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Active membership in an LCMS congregation, committed to the Holy Scriptures and Lutheran Confessions.
