About WATN WLMT-TV Memphis, the ABC/CW TEGNA affiliate, is seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Journalist to uphold our tradition of superior reporting. We want a creative storyteller capable of producing unique, memorable stories across all platforms, combining excellent photography and editing skills. A valid driver’s license and ability to operate a news gathering vehicle are required.
Responsibilities
- Perform live shots during developing stories or breaking news.
- Develop story ideas and source local community contacts.
- Identify, write, and produce stories within specific frameworks.
- Research facts and verify credibility.
- Maintain and grow sources to enhance reporting.
- Shoot, write, produce, and edit content for on-air and online within deadlines.
- Utilize creative production techniques, including graphics and new media formats.
- Leverage social media and digital tools for research and content distribution.
- Contribute story ideas in editorial meetings.
- Write in an engaging, authentic manner.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of reporting experience preferred.
- Strong news judgment, communication, creativity, and ethical decision-making skills.
- Excellent writing, production, and tease writing skills.
- Experience with ENPS, EDIUS, and Axis graphics is a plus.
- Organized, able to meet deadlines, and handle live breaking news calmly.
- Proven ability in social and digital content creation.
- Knowledge of Memphis is a plus.
