Job Summary

This position is approximately 10 hours per week, creating short-form vertical video for our social media channels and executing projects as determined by the Social Media Content Manager. Candidates should be comfortable with appearing as an on-camera personality and expressing their excitement for Student Life at UP.

Core Duties
  • Brainstorm social media content ideas for social media platforms, specifically Instagram and TikTok
  • Plan, film, and edit short-form video content that highlights student life.
  • Capture video content showcasing student life at UP, including annual events like CPB events (Riverboat, Rock The Bluff, etc), Scholarship Day, etc. Edit longer videos into short, 15-30 second captioned clips
• Stay current with trends in digital media to ensure content is engaging and relevant.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and communicating progress with supervisors
  • Maintain organized digital files and project documentation.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience with filming and editing photo and video content with iPhone
    • Cap Cut, iMovie, In Shot, Adobe Creative Cloud, or other editing software
  • Experience with social media (Tik Tok, Instagram, You Tube)
  • Ability to observe and utilize social media trends to create content.
  • Strong public speaking skills and comfortable to be featured to a wide social media audience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that can work collaboratively with student organizations and events.
  • Flexible working hours to support capturing events, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work independently with direction.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Social media content creation in a professional setting
  • Majoring in Marketing, Communications, or related field
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently: sit, perform desk-based computer tasks; use fine manipulation and grasp
  • Occasionally: stand and walk; twist; lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasionally: ability to attend events and activities on or off campus.
  • Frequently: ability to interact and communicate with members of the University and others as necessary.
