Position DetailsPosition Information Job Title Theater Marketing Assistant Department Performing & Fine Arts Terms and Hours Appox. 10 hours / week Job Category Student Employment Hourly Wage Portland Metro Minimum Wage ($16.30) Job Summary Student will assist UP Theater with all marketing efforts to promote UP theater productions (between 4 to 6 a year); 10 hours a week, full year commitment. This role includes assistant managing the UP Theater Tik Tok, Instagram, and Facebook; curating the newsletter via Emma (8-10 a year); graphic design for show logos, posters, audition announcements, and other content as needed; film and edit short videos to promote individual shows or the department; assist in assembling the playbill by collecting bios and headshots; and other tasks as needed.Core Duties Attend weekly marketing meetingsAttend at least 2 rehearsals of each production (typically at night, and worked out with the director of each production)Oversee UP Theater Tik Tok page (update cover, create social media plan, create and curate posts, create and promote events, answer DM's, etc)Solicit, create, and curate content (written, images, video, and audio/podcast) to promote and develop the awareness of UP theater productions in multiple mediaCreate written copy for the public, newsletter, facebook, and playbillProofread written copyDevelop and maintain relationships with current and potential UP theater students and patrons through social media and the newslettersDocument each production on and off stage through digital photography, working closely with Student Theater PhotographerOther relevant duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications In-depth knowledge and understanding of marketing techniquesAttendance at UP Theater eventsAbility to communicate in written and visual forms with patronsGood writing skills and creative approach to visual designGood proofreading skillsAbility to work independently and take initiative as well as collaborate with faculty and studentsTheatrical background and/or understanding of the process of building theatrical productions Preferred Qualifications Marketing background and/or social media and branding experience preferred, but not requiredExperience working in Emma Marketing and Adobe Creative Cloud preferred, but not requiredExperience with video production and editing preferred, but not requiredExperience as a photographer preferred, but not requiredMarketing, Arts Administration, and Theater majors encouraged to apply.
