Dispatcher - Logan Health Communication Center - PRN (scheduled as needed)

Overview

The Communication Center Dispatcher answers incoming calls, prioritizes, and dispatches appropriately. This position monitors security infrastructure including CCTV, alarm systems, radios, and flight following systems. Responsibilities include maintaining computer-aided dispatch records and coordinating resources to respond effectively to routine and emergency calls.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in computer skills, typing, medical terminology, ten-key data entry, and proofreading.
• Preferred experience in healthcare, fire, EMS, or law enforcement dispatching.
• Effective communication, tact, diplomacy, and compassion are essential.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of customer service principles and confidentiality laws, including HIPAA.
• Ability to manage a fast-paced, stressful environment and multi-task during critical calls.
• Experience with telephones, computers, and sophisticated software; ability to learn new systems.
• Ability to hear and understand normal phone conversations, differentiate colors, read screens, and speak clearly over communication devices.

Job Duties

• Answer priority calls, initiate responses for Code Events, alarms, and requests, and gather complete information for dispatching.
• Monitor and notify medical personnel during Telehealth protocols and prioritize activation procedures.
• Dispatch flight teams, manage ground transportation, monitor flight schedules, and notify providers as needed.
• Utilize complex technology systems including Amcom Phone, Record Management, Meditech, and camera systems.
• Follow emergency procedures with proper notifications.
• Monitor security channels, alarm panels, surveillance, and security systems.
• Answer and prioritize calls from various entities, using computer-aided systems and maps.
• Communicate professionally with staff, law enforcement, fire, and community providers.
• Identify concerns and recommend improvements to supervisors.
• Manage On Call schedules accurately and timely.

*Maintain regular attendance as scheduled.

Shift & Schedule

Variable shifts; Logan Health operates 24/7. Flexibility to work weekends and holidays is required. Rotation of on-call duties may be necessary.

PRN Position Details

PRN roles offer flexibility, support during busy periods, and employee benefits including a 401(k) plan and Employee Assistance Program. Hourly differential pay may apply.
