Job Title:

Branding Iron Assistant Editor-in-Chief

Job Purpose:

Provide editing, proofing, and page design supervision of newspaper copy before publication.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Edit all copy prepared for composition.
2. Design and paginate pages for newspaper.
3. Proof all copy after composition.
4. Supervise and direct copy editors in the completion of the first three duties.
5. Meet daily with the editor for consultation and assignment.
6. Maintain regular office hours of not less than 15 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Full-time student
• Minimum 2.5 GPA
• Experience in newspaper writing, including news stories.
• Available to start work on August 18, 2025.
• Available for publication deadlines on Sundays and Wednesday nights.
• Available Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for training.

Desired Qualifications:

• Some supervisory experience.
• Basic knowledge of what constitutes a good newspaper story and other editorial content.
• Prior newspaper experience.
• Knowledge of AP style or willingness to learn.
