Nephilim is a grounded supernatural feature film that reimagines Biblical myth through the eyes of a 21-year-old Black woman in 1980s Los Angeles. Gritty, emotional, and mythic in scope, the film explores legacy, trauma, and power through a fresh cultural lens. Think Black Panther meets The NeverEnding Story—with a heavy dose of old-school WWF soul.
At its heart, the story features a key supporting character inspired by the golden era of professional wrestling—an ex-rabbi turned prophecy-chaser whose love for wrestling influences his identity and fight for redemption. This project is especially passionate for those with ties to the wrestling world—particularly if you’re connected to WWE, independent wrestling circuits, or legends of the ‘80s and ‘90s.
We’re seeking a creative producer or co-producer with industry access to help package and elevate the film. We’re especially looking for a collaborator who:
- Can assist in casting an up-and-coming Black actress for the lead role of Maya and/or an established Black actress for her mother Merope.
- Has connections or the drive to bring this project to platforms like Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison, Netflix, WWE Studios, or similar.
- Loves character-driven genre storytelling with myth, muscle, and meaning.
- Believes in launching something bold that blends mythology, identity, and pop culture in unexpected ways.
