The webmaster reports directly to the Student Digital Media Manager or a designated student supervisor in Syc Creations, the student group that produces client-driven videos, manages in-house websites and develops sites for clients, and offers graphic design services for Student Media.

Job Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The webmaster will be involved in all aspects of web management and development or other tasks as assigned. Duties include:
1) Train students in other Student Media groups to post content to the family of websites under the Student Media umbrella. The majority of sites use the TownNews content management system.
2) Provide support and backup services for all groups within Student Media, acting as a primary webmaster for individual sites when needed.
3) Work in a team environment with others involved in some aspect of Syc Creations.
4) Support two non-TownNews sites at SycCreations.com and WISUFM.org.
5) Maintain regular work hours to complete all work within allotted time.
6) Provide leadership in the integration and convergence of content across platforms.
7) Enhance the appearance and function of the Student Media websites.
8) Troubleshoot problems with web services as they arise.
9) Participate in and contribute to a culture of innovation in delivery of content on web platforms.
10) Collaborate with students in other Student Media units.
11) Other work as assigned by the Student Digital Media Manager or Student Lead, possibly including work related to social media, video production or graphic design.
The webmaster in Syc Creations should expect to work 10 hours per week during the fall and spring academic terms, with the possibility of employment during summer and semester breaks. The schedule will be determined by work needs and in consultation with the Student Digital Media Manager.
Some experience with content management systems is highly preferred. Knowledge of web coding and development is a plus, but not required. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software is a definite plus.
