BuildingWork is hiring for a Studio Manager August 2025

BuildingWork is an architecture firm located in Seattle Washington, with a current team of nine people. We specialize in the design of civic and community buildings, in adaptive reuse and historic preservation projects, and environmentally responsive, sustainable design practices. Our clients are public agencies, not-for-profit organizations, arts organizations, local businesses, and developers. Our project types include public libraries, educational spaces, creative office workplaces, multi-family residential, and community, arts, and culture spaces.

We are seeking to grow our team with people who are inspired to improve our cities and communities through the creation of outstanding architecture. The successful candidate for this position has experience with general office management, administration, and marketing support for small or medium sized architecture firms or related industries. The position provides opportunities for professional growth, to implement operational improvements and initiatives that help the firm succeed, and to make a positive contribution to the communities we serve.

The Studio Manager position includes a range of responsibilities, as listed below:

General Office Responsibilities:

• Receive incoming phone calls and greet in-person clients and visitors

• Receive and distribute incoming mail and deliveries; manage outgoing mail and deliveries

• Maintain office supplies, beverages, and snacks

• Coordinate firm events (team lunches, celebrations, continuing education events, etc.)

• Coordinate with outside vendors such as copier, internet, and custodial service

• Assist firm partners with scheduling and miscellaneous tasks

• Help maintain a professional and creative studio environment

Administrative Responsibilities:

• Maintain office filing systems (paper and digital)

• Coordinate with IT consultant and manage software purchases and subscriptions

• Coordinate with firm’s insurance providers

• Maintain business licenses and registrations

• Assist firm partners with Owner-Architect Contracts and Architect-Consultant Contracts

• Manage the time keeping and project management software platform (BQE Core)

• Prepare and send monthly invoices to clients

• Make bank deposits and coordinate with bookkeeper

Marketing Support Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development of marketing submittals

• Assist firm partners in business development tasks and activities

• Maintain and update a CRM database

• Manage the firm profile on multiple client rosters

• Coordinate website updates

• Maintain firm’s graphic standards and brand identity

In addition, candidates should have excellent communication skills (written, verbal, graphic, and interpersonal), possess strong organizational and information management skills, and have facility with software and technology. Candidates should be self-motivated and look forward to participating in a collaborative and dynamic work environment with a culture of learning, service, and excellence.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits to all team members that includes a creative and engaging studio environment, flexible work schedules, professional development opportunities. The compensation package for this position is as follows:

• Salary range of $70k – 80k, depending on experience

• Four weeks (20 days) of paid time off annually

• Ten (10) paid holidays annually

• A health insurance plan including medical and dental coverage

• An annual $300 stipend for continued education and professional development

• 401k retirement savings plan with a 4.0% matching firm contribution

• Eligibility for bonuses based on firm profitability and individual performance
