Position Summary

Wild Waves Theme & Waterpark is seeking talented and creative Makeup Artists to join our Fright Fest team. Makeup Artists are responsible for transforming scare actors into terrifying creatures through professional-level makeup applications, prosthetics, and character design. This fast-paced, high-energy position is critical to the immersive and frightening experience our guests expect.

Responsibilities

  • Apply character makeup and special effects makeup to Fright Fest performers based on design guidelines
  • Use airbrushing, prosthetics, face paint, and other FX materials to achieve realistic and themed looks
  • Work from concept designs, character sheets, or direction from supervisors to maintain visual consistency
  • Ensure all makeup is applied efficiently, safely, and within designated time frames before showtime
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of makeup stations, tools, and supplies
  • Assist with touch-ups and makeup maintenance during operating hours as needed
  • Sanitize brushes, equipment, and makeup products between uses to ensure health and safety standards
  • Communicate effectively with actors, costume personnel, and supervisors to coordinate character preparation
  • Assist in teardown and cleanup at the end of each event night
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the Fright Fest event

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Proven experience in theatrical, SFX, or professional makeup application
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Knowledge of skin safety, sanitation, and hygiene protocols
  • Creative eye for character design, detail, and visual storytelling
  • Comfortable working with various textures, prosthetics, and makeup mediums
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and all scheduled Fright Fest dates including Halloween
  • Portfolio or samples of previous work strongly encouraged

Additional Information

  • Makeup Artists will be scheduled for early afternoon to evening shifts during event nights
  • All supplies and equipment will be provided by the park unless otherwise arranged
  • This position may require standing for extended periods and working in tight backstage areas
