Content Associate Editor/DC

• Translates and adapts stories between Arabic and English, ensuring accuracy, cultural relevance, and preservation of editorial tone.
• Reviews and edits content for grammar, clarity, style, and formatting across digital channels including websites, social media, and newsletters.
• Monitors regional and international news to identify story opportunities and contribute timely, relevant content ideas.
• Conducts interviews and gathers information from sources in both Arabic and English.
• Ensures all bilingual content meets linguistic, cultural, and journalistic quality standards
• Assists in preparing and uploading content using content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress.
• Collaborates with editors, writers, and designers to ensure content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with MBN’s voice and digital goals.
• Ensures proper tagging, metadata, and internal linking for SEO optimization.
• Conducts basic fact-checking and ensures compliance with editorial and legal standards.
• Helps maintain editorial calendars and supports the scheduling of content updates.
• Tracks content updates and version control across platforms.
• Supports content audits and assists with updating or retiring outdated material.
• Participates in brainstorming sessions and contributes content ideas.
• Learns and applies brand and accessibility guidelines in all editing work.
• Supports special digital projects and campaigns assigned.
• Researches, reports, and writes original news and feature stories in Arabic and/or English, meeting professional journalism standards.

OTHER DUTIES:

The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• 1–2 years of experience in content editing, writing, or digital publishing (internships or freelance acceptable).
• Strong attention to detail, grammar, and editorial standards.
• Basic understanding of digital content principles, SEO, and web usability.
• Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal).
• Ability to work collaboratively and take feedback constructively.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic editing tools; experience with Google Workspace or project management platforms (e.g., Trello, Asana) is a plus.
• Fluency in Arabic and English required. Writing and editing skills in both languages are required.
• Familiarity with social media best practices and platform-specific formatting.
• High attention to detail with commitment to factual accuracy and ethical journalism.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced newsroom environment.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under stress with accuracy and balance.
• Ability to accommodate flexible work schedule to support 24/7 news environment.
